Niacinamide Gel is clinically proven for moderate inflammatory acne (defined by the presence of at least 15 papules or pustules on the face). Niacinamide is the active form in niacin the source of B3, used for its anti-inflammatory properties in other skin disorders. The clinical studies tested topical 1% Clindamycin for comparable efficacy against 4% niacinamide. Results at the four week interval showed Clindamycin ahead with no difference between the two at eight weeks. Clindamycin, a topical acne antibiotic, is associated with producing resistant strains of bacteria in acne therapy. Niacinamide after eight weeks is as effective without producing resistant bacteria strains and a valid alternative.
